help with marstons

we had a marstons bailiff at the door last Thursday for my husbands csa debts of around 3600 he stupidly let them in as thought he had to we said theres no way can pay the full amount and would have to be in instalments he said 25 a week but we have to pay 500 by this Friday theres no way we can do this as struggling as it is any advice please

Argh, should not of let them in, they can re-enter now, through an unlocked door, whenever they want.
You are best dealing with these people in writing only, you don't have to do anything that you cannot afford, you should make your offer in writing, then pay what you have told them you would pay, don't speak to them again accept by letter.

Did you sign anything when he came inside? If you did then that is the Controlled Goods Agreement (CGA) and the terms of repayment are specified on that form (as well as what goods the bailiffs can take if you don't maintain the instalments). Unfortunately, the bailiff can force entry for these goods. If you didn't sign anything then the bailiff will not have taken any of your goods into control and he needs to start the whole process again (including entry).
CSA bailiffs are like council tax bailiffs which means (without a signed controlled goods agreement) they will need to try and gain peaceable entry again. Do not let them in, keep the house locked and secure, and hide any assets outside. You will probably need more detailed advice about dealing with this. Try calling one of the free services for more advice.
