New debt collection letter following old fine

I received a parking fine back in April 2013. The advice back then was just to ignore the fine which I did, and I received all the predicted debt collection threats and eventually it died off.

It was so long ago I can't even remember what the original fine was. I know they halved it a couple of times and then put it back up with further letters.

I never filed an appeal with POPLA as I don't think that was being done back then. It was a Euro Car Parks and if I remember correctly it was 90minutes free parking and I was about 12 minutes late back.

I have received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus today demanding that following the Beavis case I pay £150. I've had a look on POPLA and it says appeals must be commenced within 28 days of a rejection (is that a rejection by the original debtor to cance the charge?). I never contacted them at all. Is it too late to commence any sort of appeal now?

I'm not sure what to do next. I've held out this long and not heard from them for months/years. I'm sure the original fine was about £45 and went up to £90ish. So to pay £150 now would be really annoying.

Advice please!!!!

Of course this is not a "fine", It's an invoice.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Stop worrying and read the link in Post 3.

  • Thanks... Didn't think I was hijacking a thread? I'm asking for the same info as the original thread adding to the issue not detracting from it... I would have thought hijacking would be asking for info and advice on an unrelated matter for my own benefit???

    please read this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5035663

you do not need to re ask on this thread , or indeed start a new thread , all the info you need for the time being is there.

only return and start a new thread if you receive a letter before action of court papers from the parking company , NOT junk mail threats from debt collection Cos

different forums have different rules ........

this forum wants to keep the one request for help/advice/ per person per thread ........

this is to stop confusion arising ........ all though it may look the same things could be different........

so please take the time to read the newbies thread (especially the debt collectors section) for further advice

    good luck

  • Hi,
Thanks for your replies and direction. I had previously read a lot of the threads and stickies but refreshed myself with them today.

Just to clarify, as there is so much information on this forum and it's very difficult to find answers to exactly what one is looking for, could someone confirm if the following is correct?

    1. Debt recovery plus can't pursue me for any money, only euro car parks.

    2. As DRP are registered with IPS (think that's correct) should I send them the template letter in the newbies thread?

    3. Do I not do anything with POPLA with the original invoice being so long ago or should I still start a claim?

    4. If euro car parks did take me to court over this can they only pursue me for the value of the original invoice?

    Thanks.
