Getting make up to stay on

Options
I take my time and prep my face proper. I use a primer and then set the foundation/BB with powder. And then use a setting spray.

But in couple of hours my nose is shiny. I know its due to me have a oily nose. My chin and forehead suffer a little to. but not the extend that my nose does.

Not sure what else I can do but admit defeat?

Thanks in advance

Yours

Calley

Maybe go with the old fashion way of powder compact in your handbag and apply little dabs throughout day when required ? Or maybe you need a change of product ...

I have similar skin to you , I used to use Estee Lauder Double wear but found it quite aging, sometimes I used to mix it 50/50 with moisturiser or a corrector to get a lighter look, great coverage as well and doesn't really move, an amazing high street alternative at less than half the price is Revlon Colourstay, the one for oily skin is the best, it has a slightly less drying consistency and still great coverage. I like a dewy look at the moment so am using MAC waterproof, this works for me. Two products I would highly recommend to use with your foundation are as a primer, Boots No 7, in the white tube, excellent oil control for a decent price, a little goes a long way and a light dusting (use a big brush) of Kick !!! yellow powder by Soap n Glory, this powder is my number 1, it sets everything and is so fine its undetectable when used with a brush, it can also be used on top of make up later in the day if you get a shine, just blot with tissue and dust some on :)
  • I have the same problem and find shine control papers help - Superdrug make some, but there are others out there!

Thanks. I do use two primers as I have high colour in my cheeks and nose so use a barry m primer in green. And another cheap one for the rest of my face.

I use a BB cream and foundation mixed together. I use a Beauty blender knock off to apply it all. Then use no7 pressed powder to set it all.

Money is tight at the moment. So can't really be buying any new products at the moment

I have heard tell that applying a very fine layer of milk of magnesia to the oily areas stops the shine

What I found worked was the oil cleanse method It's not instant, but it balanced my skin up lovely and my nose stays reasonably oil free

Oh and I use mineral make up, even when the shine does come through the foundation stays

I do use olive oil to take off my makeup sometimes. But then use other products as well as it never seems to get it all off.

I find a good massage with the oil and few swipes with a muslin cloth rinsed in hand hot water works

Trouble is, using another product after the ocm means you are reintroducing drying chemicals with will then tell your skin to make more oil

I'm not sure it's sliding off your face, you're using way too much and it's clogging your skin.

why are you setting twice? just pick one if at all.

what kind of primer are you using? If you have oily skin you're overdosing on products and will cause breakouts. your face CANNOT BREATH and even more so if you use a silicone primer AND a setting spray (also silicone) which is a blocking barrier. I avoid at all costs as you can't breathe.

Try a cream based primer or use less foundation with powder for setting if you genuinely need it. just slightly too much foundation can cause your skin to reject it.

You really need to make sure you use the right products for your skin regardless of price. I really don't care for this 'dupe' world and even more so the 'blogger trends'. All of them are paid placements.

People laugh at me for wearing clinique foundation as 'it's for older people'. OK crater face...
