I guess I'm quite lucky then. Mine is £39 per month in a flat on the Zone 1/2 borders.

    Wow, that's peanuts. I've always paid around £160 a month on a 10-monther

Swings and roundabouts I guess - my last place was £170 per month, with the deductions !!

Enthusiasticsaver.. Your comments are very helpful, some are things I'm not wanting to hear but that's part of the process! I look at it as a statement of fact rather than being judged.
Smoking is one I truly struggle with, even worse than burning money is that I have close family members with smoking related diseases and THAT doesn't stop me. There's a lot of work in that area to do I agree.
Insurance and bank package: there's a trail of devastation behind me so I may be blinded by my history of losing/breaking something every day.! I didn't think about upping my contents protection but that seems more economic if I can also get cover for my phone when out and about plus get cheap breakdown, there's always cash back available .
My boiler cover is tied in so I'll need to look at the exit fees vs adding to my household policy.
Income protection: My company is under restructure and it looks like this will continue for 18 months. The policy I have is tailored to my specific contract, it does factor in severance pay, family history, smoking, company sick period. It covers my mortgage and bills if I am made redundant, unfairly dismissed and long term sick leave. A chap I work with was an insurance broker previously and helped me find this policy. I don't know, it makes me feel much less worried but is it worth it?
Just did a weekly food shop and it came to £11.16:this was asda so could get it cheaper once I figure out what Wilkos,b&m and 99p shop have to offer. The cat cost me 9.17 (food, litter, flea stuff)
    Spinach,tomatoes,broccoli,nectarines,,eggs,cheese,bread,milk,pasta parcels,baked beans,red pepper,Cous Cous,rice,stroganoff sauce,curry powder,soup(I'm veggie) It's a start!

Not bad - now which is cheaper, home delivery or driving the car there.

Why is council tax so varied? Mine seems to be expensive but our local services are very good. I live in a semi rural county in England.

Also remember to factor in the minimum spend on home delivery would require a higher spend
