Hi, this is my first post here. I've had a total messed up financial history but desperate to get sorted so that once we have a deposit saved we can finally buy our house. I've looked on my credit file and I have a new ccj registered at my previous address. I have the case no but no idea what it's for! Any clue on how to find our and sort it. I had no chance to pay the debt (if I owe it) and stop the ccj being put on my file. Any info would be appreciated

Hi,
If you know the court concerned, you can ring them for details.
Otherwise you should find out here :

If the court papers were sent to the wrong address, you could potentially get the judgement set aside.
To apply to get a judgment set aside, fill in the application notice (N244), and send it to the court. You may have to pay a court fee of £155. You'll have to go to a private hearing at the court to explain why it should be granted.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. 1st contact the court to find out who the claimant was and what the particulars of the claim were. Only then can you work out if there is any way to do something about it.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

That will confirm the existence of the CCJ, but won't tell you who the claimant was and what it was for. Only the actual court can do that.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thank you I went trust online and it exists. I will give a call tomorrow and fill out the form to set aside. I would at least like the opportunity to pay the amount if I do owe the money. Thank you0

I know, but often people jump straight to trustonline thinking it will give them details right now which it won't, and waste £4 or whatever it is currently.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
