F.O.I Request Question

My OH has been paying a DAS (we're in Scotland's) since 2008, the 100th payment will be due at some point later this year.
Together with the hefty payments, freeze on interest and reclaimed PPI the debt has gone down considerably.
A few weeks ago my OH received a letter from a DCA offering a reduced settlement, which got me to thinking - "is the debt now costing as much for them to service?"
I was wondering, is it possible to submit a FOI request to find out how much the DCA paid for the debt and use this as a carrot to offer a rurther reduced FF?
Thoughts and opinions please....

Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .

I think it the amount paid for the debt is between the DCA and the original creditor and don't think you have any right to this information. It is a private transaction between those two parties.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0

Oh it's a nice thought, but as far as I know, you can only request information from public sector organisations, not private companies.
The debt collection industry in this country would fall apart over night if we all had access to that information lol !!!

Thank you for that - would be interesting if we could request that kind of info....anyway I think a few letters to the relevant DCAs would be worth while, see what, if any, deals can be struck.Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .0

If the debts have ended up with DCAs, this is probably a good time to try to strike a deal.
Just take care from the DAS point of view. If you just pay one of the DCAs, and that gets picked up, it could cause problems with the DAS.
If you offer 30% (or whatever) to all the creditors, and pay the ones who say OK, that doesn't seem to be a problem.0
