Advert Theme Tunes/Jingles

Hi
I have been asked to help out with a fundraising quiz night and one of the sections we were hoping to do was guess the advert from the theme tune.
Unfortunately I can't seem to find any websites that have any of these free.
Any I have found have referred me to Amazon to buy the songs but I don't need the whole song - only a couple of bars/notes and if I was to buy all 20/25 songs it would take a chunk out of our funds
Can anyone help with a website that has old adverts that I would be able to use legally but free?

http://www.whirligig-tv.co.uk/index.htm has a few tv ads but they are from the 1950's.
Their faq says ok to download to mp3.0 -
Here are a couple of sugestions for you:
Ask the same question as above here: http://groups.google.com/group/uk.media.tv.misc it's a Usenet group devoted to all things TV related. Those guys watch and take their TV seriously! So seriously, some of them even collect tv jingles, themes etc I also know that there was a guy that frequented it that had a webpage made up of midi files of such. So it's probably your best bet.
Otherwise, assuming you don't get any luck there, you could try emailing this guy: http://dvdfever.co.uk/ as you will see from his webpage, he takes his tv\dvd\radio\mp3 consumption quite seriously too, but that makes him one of the experts who knows his stuff and he also hangs out in the afforementioned usenet group.
Then there's youtube you could stick in your favourite brands and see what turns up, then use one of the download services http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=download+youtube&btnG=Google+Search to download the relevant files,
Or you could forgo the downloading aspect and simply open Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ , then install it and from the dropdown box you'll see 'What you hear'* as an option. Play the youtube clip, press the big 'Record' button (it's the BIG red one, you can't miss it) then when the clip has finished, click the 'Stop' button (that's the BIG yellow one, if you found the Red one, the yellow one is next to the blue one) Then select File Save As... choose your format ie: mp3 you'll need to install http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php codec to output to mp3.
*be aware that using the 'what you hear' option means if you open any windows, close any windows on your desktop and they make a 'click' or 'whoosh' sound, Audacity will also record those noises along with the youtube clip.
Alternatively, there is this piece of software: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Encoders-Converter-DIVX-Related/Free-YouTube-to-MP3-Converter.shtml which says it will record youtube to mp3 and it's freeware.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
