Four default accounts, Three DCA companies and no clue how to handle my debt

Hi everyone,
I am trying to get my finances in order and have been reading up on forums about those who have had successes dealing with DCAs, but unfortunately my accounts don’t seem to make sense.
SO, I have four default accounts on my credit file, showing a D sign every single month on my account, but I have three payments from DCA going out of my account two I know why I am paying but PRA I don’t know what its for, and the two bank account overdrafts I have defaults for I don’t know what is happening with them and what to do.
Should i send out CCA letters to all creditors including barclays and natwest?
On my credit file are these four defaulted accounts
Lender Idem Capital Securities
Current Balance £1,868
I am paying this via direct debit reduced monthly installment at the moment, this has been passed from Agilent to Moorgate and now to Idem and I it was so long ago now I cant even remember who the original company was who I took a loan out with.
Lender NWB Current Accounts
Current Balance £1,691
It says I am paying £5 per month but I cannot see any standing order or direct debit going out of my account for £5 per month, so I have no idea what is going on with this account. Both Barclays & Natwest overdrafts have been passed over to DCA I am sure of it, but I am unclear on who they are or what is going on with these accounts. What shall I do? Do I chase up with the actual banks to see what information they can pull up (send SARS)
Lender Barclays Bank plc
Current Balance £1,590
Similar to my Natwest account, I do not have anything on my bank account showing I am paying them, yet it shows I am paying £18 per month, once again I do not know how to handle this and whether I have a DCA I am paying, I haven’t received any letters for a while and I don’t have a clue what I should do.
Lender MKDP LLP
Account Type Credit Card
Current Balance £264
Finally I have a PRA Group direct debit set up for £8.86 per month but yet again I don’t know what debt this is for now, as it seems to have been set up some time back, with moving and getting married last year I lost a lot of paper work and I cant remember what DCA is for what account and why now.
DCA payments:
Idem
Robinsons Way this is on my credit file under MKDP (are they the same company?)But there is nothing on my credit file saying I am dealing with Robinsons Way
PRA Group £8.86 No clue whatsoever why I am paying this and for what account.

Hi shiblets and welcome to the forum. It's quite a detailed post so I will just address a couple of significant issues to begin with.
Let's assume that you would know of any other bank accounts from which those extra payments could be coming out. If you have no such other accounts, and you cannot match up any debits from your bank statement with these mystery Barclays/Natwest payments, then my initial conclusion would be that the creditors involved are reporting incorrect data to the credit agencies. Why that would be, I can't say - it's not as if it serves them any purpose to deliberately mis-report payments in this way.
I think that making Subject Access Requests to the banks concerned is a sensible step to take - it should help to establish to whom if anyone the debts have been sold.

Hi,
Ok, bit of a muddle then.
Best thing you can do, is cancel any DD`s, standing orders, continuous payment authorities, whatever, to all these companies, if you have any, then wait and see who writes to you.
When they do write, if they write, send them the "provit" letter, asking for proof of the debt, and they should respond telling you what the debt is for, with whom it was originally, and for how much etc etc.
You should keep the CCA idea in the background for the time being, you can only CCA running credit agreements, such as loans, credit cards, catalogues etc, you cant CCA old bank accounts/overdraughts, as different legislation applies.
So the loan and the creditcard can be CCA`d when you have more details about the accounts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. thank you for the quick replies dennis and sourcrates,
So going forward I should send a sars letter to barclays and natwest, and cancel all payments to see who replies back and then send out a provit letter, is there a template of this or anything specific that should be in this letter? Or do i just request proof of debt and perhaps then move to CCA with the secured loan and credit card accounts?
Bank accounts as you said are another matter and I should wait to see what the sars reply is first and set up payments with them? because i cant CCA them or is there something else I should do to deal with this?0 -

If i stop payments to all accounts will they send bailiffs to my door? This is my fear that whilst I try to resolve this mess will i be setting myself up for a storm. My ultimate goal is simply to find out whether the DCA companies I am paying are enforceable debts and try and set F&F settlements with as many of these debts as I can but so far the DCA companies i spoke to 6 months ago were prepared to settle at 70% of the debt0

This is a common misconception with anyone not used to dealing with debt matters.
The people your dealing with a plain old fashioned debt collectors, not court appointed bayliffs, massive difference.
Debt collectors have no more rights than next doors cat, and have no power whatsoever.
They occasionally employ "doorstep collectors" again, not a bayliff, no powers at all.
Only a court can instruct a bayliff, and then only after the creditor has obtained a CCJ against you in court, and you have defaulted on your payments.
Non of that applies to you !!
Please Google "what can a debt collector do" read up on your rights and the process involved collecting debts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
