CSA Advice please

DP and I are splitting up. I am buying a flat for me and DD to live in as the house we shared was his house and his mortgage so obviously I have to leave.

We are trying to come to some agreement with regard to how much per month he has to give me for DD but if he refuses how do I calculate what i will get. He is self-employed and I have a copy of his accounts but how do they work it out. Is it is his net profit or gross profit they work it out from. Also he has lots of "entertainment expenses" in his account surely they will take all that into consideration.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

    Hi Lolly68
Sorry you are going through a tough time.
Just have a quick look on this link here

    <LI class=dispUrl>www.csa.gov.uk
I hope I've done that right for you:o

Some........(not all!!!! before I get shot!!;) ) self employed NRP's have been known to 'cook' the books if you know what I mean, showing that they are on a lot less than previously (thus reducing the amount of CSA maintenance payable). I'm having problems myself and if I could give any advice, I would look on the website and work out how much he would have to pay you at present for your daughter..... and try come to some agreement between yourselves.

Apparently, it is ever so easy to reduce your income when you are self employed:eek: and the only person missing out will be your lovely daughter:mad:
(My ex now works for GF, I get £10 a week for my two children, lets hope new GF never goes through what I am going through now... .........:D )
Try & keep things as amicable as poss for her sake. I realise things will be strained at the moment, but are you on speaking terms? How amicable is it?

Thank you so much for replying. We are on speaking terms as I am still living in his house. I have a copy of his accounts but it is so difficult to work out. I know that he does cook the books so to speak but hopefully we will be able to work something out for our daughter's sake.

Sorry you that had a rough time of it - lets hope the GF gets whats coming to her!!

Well, say he takes home £250 per week, I think for one child you would get 15% of his take home pay, so this would be 37.50 per week. This works out at £162.50 per month (37.50 x 52 weeks divided by 12 months).
I realise you have his accounts but it is difficult to work out, but if you have an approximate idea what he earns per week, what he would be happy to contribute, and what you would be happy with then try for sort it yourselves.
(My ex used to earn approx 30K when we were married, the first year after he left this went down on paper to 15k per year and now he only earns 8k per year:eek:. Considering he works 6 days per week doing the same work as when he was married, has a new house, new 4 x 4 and four exotic holidays per year........he does extremely well on his 8k!!! In less than 2 yrs he has taken a 22k drop in salary;) )
What kind of man does that?......and she must be stupid helping him..........if I met someone and he even suggested it, I would kick his sorry !!! as far away from me as possible:rotfl: .......I couldn't condone this at all.
I hope you get yourself sorted
    Best wishes x
