I know it's 5 years up here but is it from the date of default or the date payment was last made?

I have a debt that I last paid in jul 2010 but this did not default until june 2011. Is it statute barred now or does it become statute barred in 5 months?

I know it won't drop off the credit file until 6 years from default.

For a simple contract debt like a loan or credit card the 5 years runs from the first time you missed a contractual payment. If you made a payment after that (within 5 years) it's from the last payment you made.

For an overdraft it runs from when the creditor called the debt in. The default on your credit file isn't really relevant to being statute barred.
