Just caught up on your diary, you're doing so well!
I know what you mean about spending money that's meant to repay purchases on a credit card... guilty of that so many times!
Keep going0 -
Thanks SSDD23
I feel like I've come a long way and cannot wait to be debt free! It really feels possible now, and not forever away. We won't know what to do with all of the extra cash (well other than book lots of holidays haha).0 -

Yeah I look at my potential budget for when I have no debt and don't know what I would do with all that disposable income :rotfl: (other than save ofc)0 -
It's here, so money allocated to all the right places and a further payment made to our Halifax credit card. That's payment 2 of 12 made
My partner might be coming into a fairly big chunk of money in the next couple of months, so depending on how much he gets we're hoping to pay off the Halifax credit card, and pay what we were paying to that card to MBNA. If all goes well, at a push we can clear the MBNA card by the end of 2019 meaning we will have no debt going into 2020 which will be amazing!! :j
The EF has been put on hold for the time being whilst we save for holiday spends for our trip in May. I know some won't agree with that approach, but as it was such a last minute, unexpected big holiday we need to do what we can to have enough money to take with us. As soon as we've saved enough for spends everything will be going back into the EF againso for now, there will be no balance updates to the EF.
Hope everyone's having a nice weekend!0 -
Usual weekly transfers to regular pots done.
I made a fair sum bet matching during the Grand National, meaning I was able to sort out our travel insurance, airport parking and ETAs as well as transfer £62 into each of our savings pots, meaning £62 off what I owe to my partner's savings
Since we started our debt journey we have paid off over £1200 of debt, and have over £800 of savings. It's crazy what you can do when you really put your mind to something.
I have something up on eBay with a few watchers, and my partner has several items with lots of interest. So we'll hopefully pull in some decent money from this between us. We've also just sold our old lawnmower for £20, so we had a takeaway as a treat! The MBNA statement is up tomorrow, so will be able to pay a further £143.70 off that tomorrow
Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend :j0 -
well done there - doing a great job. its all about the balanceI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -
£143.70 paid to the MBNA credit card.
My eBay item has jumped from 99p to £16 with still 6 hours to go. So I'm happy with that! :j0 -
You seem to be doing really well. We are hoping to go to Canada next year so would be interested in hearing how your visit goes later on in the year. Saving for spends is the way to go so no arguments from me even though the EF wont build as quickly.
I agree that it is all about balance. So nice of your cousin to pay for flights though and well done on actually using the money he/she gave you to repay the credit card rather than hold it back. Fantastic result in getting rid of the family loan and about two thirds of your partners loan. Which deal expires first Halifax or MBNA? It would be great to get rid of one of them by the end of the year and just have MBNA left.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Canada is amazing! I've been extremely fortunate to have been before, and no matter how many times you go, there's always something new to experience. It really is a beautiful country and the people are lovely. So you will 100% enjoy it
The Halifax 0% deal ends first. With our current monthly payments, the Halifax card will be paid off by Feb 2020 and the MBNA card by August 2020 - both before the end of the 0% deals. But fingers crossed we can knock at least several months off both. Would be great going into 2020 with only 1 credit card (or ideally 0 but we will see) especially as it's my 30th next year so would love to do something special!0 -
Great progress! Why not make your 30th bd your debt free goal? :j xx 30 debt free and fabulous! X0
