A few questions on multiple free entries...

I was entering the usual Thursday radio station cash comps earlier, the ones where 30 online free entries are permitted, & I started thinking about a couple of things. I'm wondering if any fellow compers know how these work.
Do txt entries have a better chance of winning, are they weighted or something similar as they've cost money? Seems a bit strange that anyone pays to enter if free online entries have all got an equal chance of winning, particularly if 30 of them can be made.
Why on earth are multiple entries even permitted? I understand offering 1 free entry but what does the promoter gain from allowing multiples as there's no advertising etc on the page.
Anyone know?
I personally wish it was only 1 entry to save time. I used to do just one entry until very recently but have increased it in the hope one day I might actually win some cash. A girl can dream😀

I guess if, say, 4000 people enter, it sounds a lot more impressive to potential comp sponsors for the station in general and their other comps to say they had 120,000 entries than 4000 ENTRANTS? Just a guess!0

I won one of these a couple of months ago and I only entered online. I think I spread the 30 entries out over the day, but I remember doing about the last 10 less than half an hour before it closed, and then had a call almost straight after 6pm.
I don't know why they offer this free to enter option but I'm not knocking it as it got me 2 grand! :P0 -
If they offer a free entry route it's usually to avoid all the regulations that go with pay to enter lottery style competitions and they probably have to offer the same number of free entries as they do paid ones.
People are prepared to pay to enter 30 times or they would have a lower limit (ITV set 39 entries for some of theirs) and they almost certainly make money on every competition like this they run (Itv make millions on theirs)
(In the year when itv started to go postal instead of free web their "Interactive revenue was up £4 million due to higher income from competitions.")0 -
I won one of the radio ones last month for £2000 and did the 30 entries same day of closing. Been entering them since but saw somewhere here i think about that if you win once with them you can't enter again for 6 months. Is that right? I've been entering since and dont want to waste my timeAugust-September 2017: Lots of stuff

Yep, Bauer Media, nothing of £500 or above for 6 months
4.9 Prize Limits. No person or persons at the same residential address may win more than one prize valued at £500 or more via any of our Competitions in any six (6) month period.
4.10 Retrospective Effect. Where an entrant or prize winner has been found to be in breach of any of the terms and conditions of a Competition and in particular where a person is in breach of the entry restrictions set out in rules 4.6 to 4.9 above, we may nevertheless still enforce our right to disqualify that person and require the return or reimbursement to us of any prize even where a prize has been awarded and/or actually provided to the entrant or prize winner in question.

Thanks for all your replies, I never thought about how it obviously looks better to have a much larger amount of entries. I'd guess that might well be the reason.
Well done cagsd amazingSpurs me on to keep trying.

That's interesting, as a Bauer winner I have been steering clear of any of their competitions and have been avoiding the Take A Break (etc) competitions as I could have sworn they were Bauer publications but they are not on that list! Does that mean they are OK for me to enter??0 -

So I can enter them then? Ace, thank you! And there's me avoiding the TAB puzzles etc like the plague! Will have to go and see if any are still open that I've missed, cheers! x0
