Why did you apply to Natwest if you don't want your bank statements analysed?

If someone told me your story NatWest would be one of the last lenders I would place it with!

They will want the last 3 months bank statements as a standard request at that LTV
I was just going to post something similar.

Hands up any broker who would have placed this client with NatWest.

I expect to be deafened by the silence...

  • If you had plenty of money then gambling £2k is no better or worse than spending the same amount on a holiday, wedding or giving it to charity - in all event you will have nothing physical to show for it.

    Not really.

A Holiday or Wedding is largely a one off or once a year type of expenditure, whereas smashing £2k on the bingo isn't.

  • Hi thanks again for the response I went to financial advisor and it was only later on he rang me and said I have be accepted mortgage in principle and he needed copies of last 3 months statements it was only when I asked what they were looking for he told me about bingo sites being 1 of the things so now I am panicking. I transfered savings into my current account to blow this money I didn't miss any payments on any bills just decided to have a flutter for a few months.
Do you think I'll be rejected then?

I think you have a gambling problem. Can you afford a mortgage with this problem???

Smashing 2k is not normal on gambling sites and you have nothing to show.

Smashing 2k on Escorts at least you have something to show...a good time

  • Does the same problem apply to someone doing a direct debit for £10 a month to National Lottery

    Yes the same problem applies.

They will use £10 in their affordability calculation to figure out how much can be lent.

My problem is I deposit some £10,000 per month to gambling sites as I do Matched Betting to make a bit of money on the side. Mortgage providers take the whole £10,000 as an expense even though I deposit back at least £10,000 into the account from the gambling sites and I really spend nothing on Gambling.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

  • Yes I can afford the mortgage quite easily in fact and it is not something I have ever done before just decided to smash a bit of my savings for abit see what all the fuss was about, and I did actually have a good time - just didn't think this would be an issue with getting a mortgage as I have 30k deposit. I obviously knew they would look at statements just didn't even think that online gambling would be taken into account stupid I know

Do you think I will now be declined because of this? It's approx £700 every month for past 4 months

I am so annoyed with myself

Why are you just not intending to use a Lender that does not check bank statements?
