in Cutting tax
Hello all,
Can someone please advise me if as a "landlord" (my partner and i rent out my old flat whilst living in hers) I am able to claim as expenses the repairs to the rental property i do myself?
I used to work in the building trade before injury sidelined me to a desk job, however, as i live 2 streets away, when there's a leaking tap or blocked drain i often pop over and fix it myself rather than arrange a plumber etc as its quicker and cheaper and best of all I know the job will be done properly!!
Is that claim-able at all? I think if i did call a plumber out i could offset their invoice to me, so wondering if there's an allowance for my own repairs??
Not sure I've made myself very clear there but hopefully someone will understand what i mean...?
Thanks in advance,
TGM

Yes you can claim for the expense of materials etc for repairs.
You cannot claim for your own labour though. (Well, you probably could, but it would be self defeating because you would then need to declare that as income)0
