Might just be coincidence but I was stung twice by payday scammer and in both cases, I received a message telling me that he/she will post a few days later, usually closing to a weekend. I wonder if that would give them more time for the free loan...0

OP bought the item tuesday, their seller said they would send by thursday. That's perfectly reasonable for seller to take 1-2 working days to post, thats what I'd do as a seller and expect as a buyer. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

I don't think the OP was saying that it wasn't reasonable. Just that it was weird to get a message from someone saying that they would 'try' to get it posted on Thursday. Seller has a promise to live up to and should be sticking to it or advising when it has gone wrong. Ambivalent statements don't help anything.0 -
But I want it NOW!!!
No I don't actually but sadly that has become the general expectation these days.
Sadly I'm old enough to remember ordering items from magazines by post and sending a postal order! If I got it within a couple of weeks I was quite happy.
More seriously though, yesterday I ordered a small spare part which I do need urgently. I chose a more expensive seller who offered first class post. Most didn't presumably to keep the cost down on a very low value item. They claim it was mailed yesterday. If it wasn't and/or has been sent second class I will be very annoyed indeed.0 -
That was it. My immediate thought was to be annoyed that he wasn't that bothered. Then I thought about it and as the other post said it was not really a problem, as you say just seemed weird to get the message.I don't think the OP was saying that it wasn't reasonable. I hadn't even looked (as most people don't) at the post time frame. I was searching for something and found an auction that was ending in an hour so I bid, won and then paid within that hour. I hadn't even thought about delivery, a few days, a week, it wasn't really an issue, just an odd message..0 -

I know thats reasonable and to be expected, but why when buying stuff am i looking for the ones where they deliver next day?
If I buy something now they have Thursday to post it and i will get it Friday right? Well not but in the back of my mind thats what i want.. And what probably doesnt help is that some sellers can do that.
Just creates that thought if one seller can get it to me the very next day why cant all of them?
Yet im happy to wait 2 weeks + for my cheap items from China?
Am I the only mad one thinking this?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
We all think oddly sometimes if we start to analyze it. Think about supermarket shopping, we'd rather buy the £3.99 bottle of wine that has a "was £7.99" label than the £3.99 one we know we like.forgotmyname wrote: »I know thats reasonable and to be expected, but why when buying stuff am i looking for the ones where they deliver next day?

As for post it's often the quicker the better, that DVD i bought a year ago but haven't watched yet, why did I insist it was sent next day delivery?
I like to think I'm easy going but it did cross my mind earlier i that my eBay purchase may arrive today and then realised that the seller probably hasn't even posted it yet..0 -
Good timing for this thread I guess.
Most of my buying and selling is in video games, not difficult to post and not overly expensive either, usually a couple of quid if you get signed for.
Won an auction on Monday, item expected by Wednesday, marked as dispatched today so possibly received tomorrow if it did go as first class as stated on the item description. Is it overly harsh to mark this as a negative if the item is in good condition?
I do look at dispatch times etc. when I am buying so it forms part of my expectation when buying.0 -

What does the listing say for dispatch times and is it a private or business seller?
Negative is very harsh. Won on Monday (I assume the Monday just gone?) and a lot wouldn't post until Tuesday at earliest anyway. It's only been a couple of days and first class is 1-2 days so even posted on the Tuesday it may not have come until today. If it was 2 day dispatch it should have been posted no later than Wednesday but then it may not get to you until Friday (1st class) anyway.
Depending on what the listing states, what they did actually post it as and when it arrives I'd maybe consider neutral or maybe knock a star off on dispatch/postage. I don't think negative is justified when it's only been a couple of days. If it were a week or more with no communication it'd be different.
If it's a business I'd expect dispatch sooner (assuming the listing didn't state it'd be up to a few days for dispatch) so feedback would perhaps be a little harsher than for a private seller (who may well work full time/be very busy), but not that harsh.0 -

Unless the listing specifically says dispatch time is same day then I think a negative would be harsh. To be honest anything less than a positive would be harsh unless the item was not as described or it wasn't sent 1st class as stated. You could always mark down dispatch times if it arrives later than what the listing says.0
