Westcot Debt Recovery phone call

Options
Hello,

I received an automated phone call this morning from 'Wescot' asking for my partner.

As far as we know, we're not in debt at all. We're paid up with bills and have no loans/credit cards.

We moved house 6 months ago, so think it could possibly be an account still being in our name. However, we're confident that we closed all our accounts.

Is it possible this is just a cold call?

Or is there probably an incorrect debt somewhere? If so, should we try to hunt it out ourselves and avoid contact with Wescot directly?

Thanks!

Could be something you missed, or a mistake/mistrace on their end. They do frequently phish after the wrong people, as they are far from competent.

Either way, it's probably best not to bite.

If there is genuinely something owed then they will write with details, rather than try to phish with phones calls or vague letters.

May be worth checking credit reports to make sure nothing new and adverse has been added.
