Your lose the weeks pay, but you also check with the employer, as they may assume that your are fit to work...

It is usual for doctors to backdate sick notes. That's what I've found anyway.

This is what i thought, especially as my doctor only works Tuesdays and Wednesday morning. I asked him about back dating and he said he couldn't. I was a bit annoyed about this because i tried to get in when it ran out but their was no appointments available.

There presumably is another doctor in the practice who you could see.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I would assume but when i asked for the initial appointment and they couldn't give me one i explain my situation and they told me there was nothing they could do and i would have to wait..

Have you tried asking the doctor for a note to give to the receptionist to book your next appt for when the sick (fit) note expires? That is of course if you will need another one.

If after explaining the situation to your employer they refuse to pay SSP you can contact HMRC for them to make a decision on it.
