The gym thing is exactly why I've been avoiding going anywhere in the run up to my holiday, I didn't want to be tracked and traced and end up quarantining. However, if the holiday gets cancelled that's me in the pub 😁 A professional oven clean sounds brilliant, not one of my favourite jobs either.

Well yesterday took an unexpected turn. The builder phoned and asked if I was in and if he could pop around and do one of the smaller jobs I’d asked him to do - a leak in the flat bit over my bay window. He brought the estimate for the kitchen/toilet with him. I know I should have got another couple of estimates but he did my friends house and worked hard and she’d shopped around - so I’m using her research as mine. We’ve told him to go ahead. There will be another estimate from an electrician and we’ll have to source some radiators and a a kitchen.  So it’s going to happen- hope I don’t live to regret it and the building fairies are good to me and don’t create hassle. I also asked him about levelling the uneven area outside whilst he’s here 👍
So my banking didn’t get done. The sun came out in the afternoon so I set to and scrubbed the decking in an attempt to get the loose paint off.....what a job. It’s never ending. I used a wire pointy wire brush thingy supposed to make the job easier 😳 and scrubbed it with a sweeping brush and washing up liquid too, in a bit to get any greasy or dusty bits out of the grooves. I’ll be glad to get back to work for a rest. I’ll go and see if it needs doing again once the rain stops. Forecast looks ok so far for Thursday so it might get painted after all.
Today will be banking and I’ll begin emptying cupboards as it could be around 2-3 weeks when the builder comes. It’ll take some getting used to as the route around the house will be totally different....but I need an accessible downstairs loo if I want relative to visit....which I do.  It’ll be fine....she says convincingly. I don’t want to move and take a mortgage on - I don’t suppose we’d get one at our ages anyway.....

Banking done and looked at finances re the building work. It should be doable.....I’ll keep telling myself I didn’t really want a cruise.....at least I’ve got the money there and a new kitchen and downstairs loo will last longer than a fancy holiday....granted it won’t be as much fun - but hey that’s life
So mission to use my fridge freezer contents with a vengeance.
I’ve also been in touch with the gp to book an appointment for a screening test us ladies have to endure. I had the letter months ago but never did anything about it. I haven’t been too worried about it though as it’s only a few months since I had a full body scan looking for anything unusual, and that was fine So that’s something to look forward to a week on Thursday.
I've walked around to Morrison’s and around the shop and my step count is still only 3000. It’s chucking it down again though so don’t think I’ll be walking much further than the kitchen and back this evening.
Tea is left overs from last nights pork satay. I’m hoping for another loss this week 🤞 I’ve not eaten any crisps, cakes, biscuits or chocolate for nearly 2 weeks......

Think that you are in the amazing position that you can afford to have the work done.
It will give you both much pleasure over the years

I know Beanie - I can’t believe it - I’ve been keeping my spends to a minimum as I kept expecting to go on half pay whilst I was off work on the sick all those times but luckily I got full pay each time and then dh had a small lumpsum from when he took semi retirement. It was going to be for our cruise or special holiday a couple of years ago for our ruby anniversary, my 60th and his 65th but it wasn’t to be - whilst I waited on hospitals then recovery times and then this year with the virus I just don’t fancy going away. They say everything happens for a reason......maybe there was a great universal plan stopping me spending as it was known I’d need to alter the house to allow relative to visit and future proof the house for us. If this inheritance ever turns up it’ll replace dhs lump sum for future emergencies and maybe a little bit of fun.If  it doesn’t we’ll be scuppered once we’ve spent it all as we won’t get another lump sum 🤔Doubt I’ll ever get my cruise but what I’ve never had I’ll never miss 👍😂
Dh took my car to the garage this morning on his way to work. The light is something to do with exhaust emissions. It has been reset to see how it goes on. He thinks it might be because it hasn’t been being used much over lockdown - suggested giving it a good run to see what happens. If it come on again will need sorting but it could sort itself out. £35 for the consultation- could have been a lot worse

Good news on the inheritance - fingers crossed it'll arrive before too long. I think you'll be so pleased once the building work has finished.  Never say never re the cruise but I wouldn't want to going on one at the moment!

True SSG I think a cruise ship would be like a tin box of germs atm. You did really well getting yours in just in time.  We were watching the news earlier with lots of ships moored in Weymouth 😳
I will be pleased once the work is done and I get used to the new layout. ATM I walk in my front door through a small square hall and straight into my kitchen.....this front end of the kitchen will become the new toilet/utility room. There will be a wall right across the kitchen as it is now so no access into it from the hall. To get into the kitchen I’ll have to go through my living room. The wall between the kitchen and dining room will come down and the kitchen/ diner will run across the back of the house......not sure if that makes any sense as I know you haven’t seen the rooms.......

Good news about getting the work done and having the money to pay for it. I know you'd have liked a cruise but at least the money is going to good use. You won't regret it once it's done.
