I’m not seeing gks next week. It’s for the best I suppose as it doesn’t make sense to me that if there’s a high chance of spreading the virus I go to the opposite end of the country. Common sense tells me to stay closer to home whilst distancing on walks as we have been doing. It is what it is....disappointing nevertheless. I’d never forgive myself if I passed it on.
So I need a plan for the rest of the holidays now.....I’m not sitting around looking at screens. It had been my intention to cut the hedge but it was raining when I got up. It’s brightened up now though so I’ll give it a while to dry off and reassess in a while👍
It’s my friends funeral is Wednesday- gutted I can’t pay my respects but they’re streaming it so will see if I can figure out how to do it.

I went for a walk into my local town today as I wanted a card and I’m fed up of Morrison’s. It was so sad to see as it was like a ghost town. I called in a toy shop with the intention of getting a Lego set to send to gdds - the shelves were virtually empty. I walked home via a different shopping street which used to be a vibrant busy area when I first moved here - I had to walk under the train station underpass - again it was all completely deserted - I’ve never seen it like this before. Mine can’t be the only town like this - it was very sad to see. I bought toilet rolls from B&M £4 as I’m getting low and a pot of fruit to snack on reduced to 30p so not a bad day spends wise.....oh and I bought an anniversary card for dh. Dosed myself up when I got in as I’ve seized up and my hip has let me know I’ve walked 3 days on the run and it’s objecting.

Sorry to hear about your local town milann - hopefully things will get back to normal soon. It's quite depressing.  Luckily our little high street seems to have come alive again.   Though my friend had to go to the West End last week and decided to have a look round Oxford Street - she said it wasn't deserted, but for a Friday afternoon in what would normally be the height of the tourist season , it was pretty quiet. She said she had the big Zara all to herself!
    Hope your hip improves.

It's such a shame about the town centres and all the businesses struggling. This virus has literally brought the whole world to a standstill. There are a few positives but the negatives outweigh these by a mile. It's just dire that you can't go to your friend's funeral. I hope your hip feels less sore soon.

I went swimming this afternoon - they never stop cleaning the changing rooms - people from the gym and classes are asked to get ready at home if at all possible.  At most there were 4 people in the pool - 1 per lane but most of the time I had the whole swimming pool to myself. I swam for 40 minutes today. I felt as safe as I could be in there.
On my way home I did a detour and dropped a sympathy card and donation to the charity my friend chose. I had a little chuckle to myself....years ago they’d had work done at the house and there was a t-junction pipe from under the ground left behind. She’d asked and asked her dh and ds to take it to the tip - nothing happened......sooooo.....she filled it with flowers as a joke and somehow it got entered into a garden planter competition- it won 1st prize for imaginative ideas. She won £100.....it’s been a standing joke eve since. It was in full bloom today and reminded me of the laughs we’d had.
I nipped in Lidl and very nearly consoled myself with a cake but put it down and picked up strawberries and pineapple instead 😇 I spent £7 I probably didn’t need most of it but fruit is better than cake. I lost 1 lb last week.....the plan is not to put it back on this week like I have been doing - like a see-saw 🤞🤪

It was a bit surreal and very sad to watch the live streaming of the funeral this morning. Everyone was separated which is what’s expected but it just looked so alien. I just wanted to hug people to comfort them.....I dread to think what it felt like actually being there.....😢

I want to do a special tea for our anniversary but can’t decide what to cook. I’ll go out to Morrison’s for inspiration I think 😀 42 years today. Dh had expected to have to stay over at work last night and complete a job they’re doing a couple of hours from here. He arrived home just before 10 last night as they continued until they’d finished and it didn’t take as long as they’d expected 😀
