The builder is coming to look at the job on Friday 🤞I’m hoping it’s possible to do what I want and not too expensive......
I found a pile of brochures about 2020 cruises behind my sofa whilst sorting out......I won’t be needing them after all, I wasn’t destined to get my cruise for my 60th birthday and Ruby Wedding anniversary- I’d put it off waiting for my arm op - we’d virtually decided which one we wanted when the virus started -  it’s our 42nd anniversary next week. It doesn’t seem 2 years since we had afternoon tea in York......

Lazy morning reading my book in bed. Dh had to go out early for work today so it was very peaceful. I do love him to bits but I do need my own space from time to time.....and that’s been in short supply whilst he has been furloughed. I’ve had brunch, got bedding in the washing machine and the plastic runner from my shower screen soaking in bleach in the bath. Next job to blitz upstairs.....and hoover everywhere, it’s not bad as I went through wardrobes a while ago. Then I’m going to potter for the rest of the day. I’d contemplated trying to cut the front hedge which needs doing badly (it’s only a small hedge) but my arm has been giving me a bit of agro and there’s a masshoosive black cloud coming and going overhead teasing me - so I won’t bother. I was going to do my kitchen but since the builder is coming for a reckie and we could be starting knocking walls down in the not too distant future.....it seems a pointless exercise. Everything is clean enough in there. Goodness knows where I’m going to put things when/if we do get the work done.

Has anyone used NS&I bonds. Martin was talking about them on This Morning yesterday and I was researching last night. It says you can take money out at anytime but was a bit vague as to how long it takes cash  to get to your bank account when you want to take money out. Just wondered if anyone has had experience of them.

Just to check, was he talking about bonds or premium bonds?  Premium bonds you get the cash very very quickly, but I am sure my bond has to stay in the full 3 years.

Bad memory - They were bonds rather than premium bonds. It  says you can cash in at anytime but need to be in blocks of £500. I just wondered how long it takes to transfer to your bank if you do want to get cash from them.
That black cloud that has been coming and going all morning had just let hailstone and heavy rain out of its being. Glad I decided not to cut the hedge. It’s awful out there

  • I'm glad you've finally broken up Milann. I don't know anything about NS&I bonds I'm afraid.

I agree with you about not wanting to risk two weeks quarantine for a toasted sandwich! That's a big part of the reason why I'm avoiding cafes and restaurants. I would hate to waste two weeks being quarantined if it turned out someone had the virus when I was there  😱.

    Enjoy your summer holiday 🙂.

Well yesterday I realised I’d spent virtually the whole day apart from a bit of cooking (which didn’t got eaten as Dh had to work very late😡) in front of some kind of screen. I’ve given myself a good talking to and have taken the bull by the horn and booked to go swimming in half an hour and tomorrow morning too. I know there’s a small risk but there’s more of a risk of spiralling into low mood by sitting in front of words for friends and the tv all day of the school holidays. I’m up to date with my cleaning, a bit reluctant to meet friends for lunch which I usually do so I could easily fall into sloth like ways. I do enjoy swimming and it’s a good exercise for my joints.....that’s my reasoning although I am slightly nervous.....but I was nervous going to work at first and that was fine......

Hi milann - have caught up with your diary and was so sorry to hear about your friend's passing.
I opened an NS&I Income Bond account some weeks ago and moved my savings across as is the best  easy access interest account at the moment. I haven't withdrawn anything out as yet, but their information on the website is that if you make a withdrawal online the funds should be in your bank account by the end of the following day. If you make a postal withdrawal if can take two weeks at the moment.
I hope you enjoy your swim!😀

    Hi Milann,
I had a N S and I ISA which said the same, withdrawal meant money back in 24 hours. It worked fine although the money came in the following day later in the day - which is what they say. Hope that helps and well done for heading off to swim. I'm feeling very sloth like at present and need to get into gear.
