Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this please?
Wife got made bankrupt around 2005, mainly due to being a student before we met then the ball spiralling. She works in the accounts department of a charity and want to know if you can take the AAT exam if you were ever made bankrupt. There seems to be some conflicting views on the WWW?
Cheers.

Obviously the people to ask are the AAT. I realise they were unlikely to be answering the phone when you posted, but you should get the definitive answer tomorrow.
The answer may be 'nothing to stop you taking the exams, but many employers will not employ you'. Although one has.
The answer may also be 'it depends', with the length of time since bankruptcy being part of what it depends on.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I am a previous bankrupt and an AAT student. I had to have a telephone chat with them before they accepted me as a student which was just me briefly explaining why the bankruptcy happened, and discussing my "financial conduct" (which has been exemplary) since.
I was informed that I may have to have another "chat" if I want to work in practice (ie for myself) rather than in business (for someone else). That's fine with me, it will be six years this summer since my bankruptcy and I have been "good" since (have a credit card that is paid off in full each month, don't use my overdraft etc)We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
