Change of disposable income to IPA

Good afternoon,

I'm currently paying £370 toward my IPA and my circumstances are about to change as i have a change of job which will require me to travel 170 miles a day as i'm in the military and live in Plymouth but have to travel to Somerset daily so with that my costs towards fuel going up alot.

In my SOA towards my IPA i have down a travel allowance of £275 which has been taken into account but now with me doing this extra mileage its going to go upto roughly £400 a month.

Will this be ok to amend with my IPA or will the OR ask for justification?

Also will have to get breakdown cover now just incase something happens whilst travelling so will the OR allow for that?

Regards

They may ask for evidence, but in the end if they are genuine costs then they shoudl accept them. Breakdown cover would also be a reasonable expense when you are doing those miles for work.

In fact, if they refused to accept it then you could actually apply to the court to change your IPA payments. There is that legal fallback for BRs in case a trustee refuses to be fair or reasonable.

  • Yeah I'm just waiting for my start date for the new job then I can look at my new SOA and discuss with my OR. Hope they just accept what my job entails and don't scrutinise me by asking me to provide receipts of each petrol stop, etc.

I've just had my BR moved to a Insolvency Practitioner so no doubt they will want to go over my SOA with a fine tooth comb.

Not great timing, and yes, they generally do as they are more motivated to squeeze every penny they can get away with from you. By fair, or sometimes foul.

    Hopefully not here though.....

  • I'm kind of worried now by the 'by foul' wording? I have expressed my concern to the national debt line with this but they say its just a formality and happens all the time so will wait and see.

My concern is my wife. She works part time as advised by her councillor and only earns £400 a month and the money she earns goes towards her rehab and welfare due to her breakdown last year when all my debts from a previous relationship came out resulting in my Bankruptcy so her earnings do not go towards the IPA as its not her who is BR. If they try any 'dirty tactics' with her earnings it will take our relationship back 8 months which could result in her suffering again and possibly leaving me and I cannot have that so hopefully they treat me like a human being and not a statistic.

Roll on August 2016 so I can be discharged and start to rebuild my financial life.

If it's a big firm, there should be no problem. Didn't mean to worry you.
