Hi,
My wife has just recieved 3 letters from a ex landlord of ours we had back in 2012. The landlord had managed to find the address of my wife's parent and forwarded these 3 letters from Frederick International Debt collection on to them.
The 3 letters are dated from May/June 2015 and are basically stating she has outstanding debt with the gas and electricy company Utility Warehouse, of £151. We left the flat several years ago and there is no mention of this on her credit file and even though the letters states that 'Bryan Carter Solicitors' have been in contact with us, this is the first we have heard of it.
I am not sure what to do, there have been no more letters from them since the last one in June 2015 and I do not really want to go stirring the pot if they have given up on the debt.
Any advice?
BTW i am pretty sure we sorted the outstandaing balance out when we left the flat, it is something I always check.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Send them this letter.
It basically asks them to prove the debt they say you owe, this is regarded as 1st step to finding out what it's all about :

Hi,
Thanks for that, seems like a good idea but I am wary of sending them a letter as they do not know our current address and I do not want to be inundated with letters and visits from debt collectors.
Thanks for your help though.0 -
So you are really hoping we will tell you to just ignore it, and everything will be OK?
It could well be so. Not knocking that.
BUT, you may want to check your credit files to make sure nothing nasty/adverse has been put on those. Court action you are not aware of it may also be a possibility, although a very low one for those amounts.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

No im not hoping that, I am very happy to get in contact with them to chase this, I just didn't know whether or not to start things off again seeing as they have not written in over 6 months. I thought maybe someone might have had a similar experience and could comment.
I have checked my wifes credit file and there is nothing on there regarding utility warehouse at all.
Thanks0 -
Fredrickson can be a right royal pain, so you may well not want to 'prod' them.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
