Do you want mine ?0 -
There is no 'official' UK ID card.
Student Union card seems to be the obvious. The SU should also be able to tell him about other options, so how about letting him do the research...0 -
Driving licence is as close as we get to an ID card, thankfully.0

If he has a NUS card, you can get the ID element on the back for a few extra £sAnchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.
Thank you to all those who post competitions!:beer:0 -
unfortunately we don't have an official ID card. It makes for all sorts of problems.
Many organisations provide their own, some free, most charged for:
* banks issue bank cards
* DVLA issue driving licences
* Student unions issue NUS cards
* National Insurance issue NI cards
* NHS issues medica cards
* many employers issue ID cards
* MOD issue ID cards
* Validate issue proof of age cards
etc
A single card, with a chip that could be updated, could incorporate all the above in a standard ID card, but your son will have to wait a year or two......0 -

NI cards were discontinued years ago - nowadays you just get a letter giving your NI number.0 -
The main ID for proof of age card is £15 https://www.validateuk.co.uk/
Or for £34 get a provisional driving license. https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence
NUS student cards are £12 (http://www.nus.org.uk/en/nus-extra/how-to-buy-nus-extra/), but aren't usually accepted as proof of age, as the student union when issuing them don't always check if the date of birth given is genuine.0 -
If you go to a betting shop there's usually a leaflet there giving a £5 discount off a Citizen Card very similar to the Validate Card as mentioned above for £15...with the betting shop discount it's £10.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
