Card Declined when it shouldn't

Did you specifically ask Santander if they (Santander) had declined the transaction...
... or whether the transaction request never reached them?
Whenever I phone a CC company about a declined transaction, they have immediate access to a list of any transactions they've declined on my account, and can tell me the reason straight away.
Obviously, they're less able to help if the transaction never reached them.0 -
I wonder if molerat mis-read it the same as I did first off. I read that Santander were saying that in your example above if you made a manual payment to clear your balance on the 10th Jan then it wouldn't be applied until the 23rd Jan.It's not quite rubbish.
Lets say your credit limit is £1000.
You spend £900, and on the 1st Jan your statement is generated, payment by the 23rd Jan. You clear the balance every month, so the direct debit will pay off all £900.
The Direct Debit will not come out until 23rd Jan...
Which is rubbish.
But not what Realist_49 was saying.0 -
Either OP does not understand how credit cards work and is exceeding their credit limit which would be obvious by a 10 second check on line and the Santander CS would have explained that or the CS was talking !!!!!!!!.0

As it says in the Great Book Proverbs 22:7 :
"The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender."
As a "slave" you should not feel embarrassed.0 -
Genesis 22:14 "the LORD will provide"
