Hi I have a GMP with Aviva worth just over £80,000. In Sept. last year I was told there was enough in the fund to be able to transfer the money out of the GMP and go with "Partnership who were offering me a £20,000 Lump sum and an annual (Non GMP) pension of £3,300 a year. Aviva were offering £510 P/A but no lump sun. so I applied through my IFA and signed all the papers for transfer. Aviva came back and the market has moved and there is now not enough in the fund to be able to transfer out? How do I get out of this Aviva "trap" Help please???

You can give up the GMP and transfer out but if the GMP is valuable, that may be a costly error. Alternatively, you could wait it out.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Rev Dave - is this a section 32 pension? If so you are entitled to receive the gmp stated in your policy at the date stated in your policy, whether or not there's sufficient funds.0
