Robot Vacuum Cleaner - Does the work for you!

Not sure how good these things are, but the write up says you can just set it off and leave it do all the work. Has sensors to stop it falling down the stairs and will change direction once it hits the wall.

At £68.99 it's not going to be a Dyson, but if anyone has experience of these, please let me know.

  • We brought the one from B&Q last year, it does the job but the dyson is required every other week to deep clean, an overnight charge usually does a large room, but works wonders in the wife's good books, except when you forget to charge it up

This is a toy - just look at the motor power and compare it with that of a standard vacuum cleaner. Neither is it a Grabbit. ;)
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

i got one from b&q a few years ago. it needed charging before it finished one room, got stuck on every bit of furniture, made an incredibly loud noise and the little rubber bits near the bristles broke almost immediately so i returned it.

Happened to me too, these are OK for empty rooms with laminate floors but anything else is a challenge

The "proper" ones are Roomba's and cost a fair bit, John Lewis has them here

They are cheaper elsewhere but mainly over £100

I used to work for John Lewis and can remember about 4 years ago we got the first robot vacuum cleaner made my Electrolux. Looked very similar to those linked to here, but it cost £999. I couldn't believe that people actually spent that much on a gimmicky toy!

Well the roomba remake versions have now gone down to c£40 at ebuyer - I have the original on daily scheduled time and use it alongside my monthly dyson routine.
