Usually the 'Earn money from home' adverts are a bit dodgy- a lot of them involve you spending money on a kit or something else that you're 'guaranteed' to make money with.

What about using your existing skills to make money? In my local paper there are always a couple of classified ads advertising book keeping etc- with a financial background could you do something like this?

    Hi there

For daily soft contact lenses try daysoft www.daysoft.co.uk - they work out at £39.98 for three months worth and they also give you 4 pairs free so you can be sure they are suitable.

I see my optician for a prescription and order direct. They are (for me) as comfortable as Acuvue.
  • Hi again
Thanks for all your advice, I spoke to my OH today and went through the snowball with him and he seems to be more onboard now. We are going to focus on the credit cards first cos these are the highest interest and we have agreed that as we do sometimes get bonuses through our jobs, that we are going to throw these at the cc rather than pay off the od as we have done this in the past and it has always built up again. He is also transferring some VHS onto DVD for guys at work who are paying him so this is going onto debts too.
Last night I had a look at some of the mystery shopping sites and applied to grass roots - dont know if this will be successful, but though I would give it a shot
Is there a way of setting this thread as a favourite or quick link as I can never find it if I log on or should i be starting a new thread each time - sorry if I seem a bit thick :o

Hi, just wanted to say well done for facing up to your debt, its not easy. To make a link to your thread go into "thread tools" immediately above your first post on this page, click on "subscribe to this thread" and it will then show up in the quick links section which again is at the top of the page. Good luck and keep posting, it really does help.

I find my threads by clicking on User CP on the bar at the top of the page. Not sure if this is what others do but its the quickest and easiest way I have found.
  • I would suggest not putting money into a savings account for the kids. Pay the money off your debts instead or use it to buy things for them that you'd need to buy them anyway.

They sound like they still have a fair bit of growing up to do. It would help you make more of a dent in you debts, and putting money aside for them honestly isn't necessary (even if it's nice to have there). Also, you're likely to be paying a lot more interest on your credit than the money will be earning in a savings account.
