IYou cant just lie on a mortgage application to get what you want. Its Fraud.

This is the best advice you'll get. If you do end up submitting a mortgage application make sure you put it exactly how it is and what your intentions are. If any potential lender thinks you have deliberately tried to mislead them then the consequences could be severe. If a CIFAS marker is put on your file then not only will you not be able to get any credit for 6 years but you will not even be able to open a standard current account and face the prospect of having your existing accounts closed without warning.

Example of what a CIFAS marker can do:

Unfortunately, the regulated mortgage market does not lend itself to 'buy today live/there later mortgages', nor much else out of the ordinary.

The broker here is staring down the barrell of being struck off of a lender's panel if a borrower tries to mislead and he is implicated.

He might not 'know much', but may know enough to drop this risk.

  • I've had to discuss living arrangement with parents. I don't have a problem commuting that far 5 days a week. That's 'normal' in London (done this yonks ago 1hr-1hr 30 mins) and parents just suggested "why don't you stay over some nights or the weekdays because commute to work from parents house is only 20 minutes." So I have either option.

I'm a teaching assistant and have no problem finding a job, jobs have always came to me and I've never had to apply. Schools are in every corner but this doesn't matter when I explained to the broker. It's not 'changing' jobs. But I was informed that career has nothing to do with the application (I think it should)

These are just the options available which I told the mortgage broker who said he will add these notes to the application. That's all. I don't know why they will put me down as fraudulent application but thanks for everyone for your quick responses and for this warning.

Its not the broker that decides. it is the lenders.
    It's not 'changing' jobs.
it is as you cant just walk into any school. However, that doesnt matter as you have already given the broker one story and changing stories does not help your situation.

Sounds like the broker is covering his backside and I can't blame him.

On this thread you have changed stories. So, its probable you have with the broker. Who in turn would quite probably done the same with the lenders and its the lenders that decide.

Lenders don't care on your job prospects, they only care what job you have NOW

A house purchase must be treated with respect.

    hi all, good advice
  • dunstonh - I haven't changed stories, I've given different possibilities after speaking to parents and back and forth to the broker. commuting, living weekdays / moving permanently in future. Broker knows I'm not submitting a fraudulent application and appreciates how open I am about things but advised different lenders see things in their own way.

csgohan - Please read carefully. teaching ASSISTANT. maybe you need a special teacher to help you read.

Thanks for the rest who didn't give advice in a condescending tone

  • What school do you work at that pays 30k to TAs? Have some colleagues who'd love to know! Their average wage is half that! Or is this a joint application?

I think the £30k partly made up from a cash in hand evening job. As ACG pointed out I think Aella is Samantha who started this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5395148

Aella - From reading this thread and the other you made as Samantha, I would shelf the mortgage idea for now. Your income isn't all accounted for, you've either not paid tax or are exaggerating your earnings, not sure which is worse but both are an act of fraud. Then comes the whole issue with buying a house with the possibility it might be unoccupied for 5 days a week!
