Cancelling and getting a refund

My fianc!e and I have recently cancelled a wedding contract, we were planning on getting married in Italy and used a wedding planning agency to help us book our day. We have recently cancelled out wedding, with 8 months notice due to family reasons.
We have looked over the contract and it does not state that the deposit is not refundable.
We emailed the company, twice and they failed to even acknowledge receipt of the email, when we emailed a third time they emailed back pointing out in our contract it states that they suggest taking out wedding insurance and that they will not offer a refund.
Can anyone give any advice how to go about getting a refund or even partial refund?

The whole point of a refund is to secure services and is non-refundable.
Did you take out wedding insurance? If so you could potentially claim through that. Otherwise I don't see any way you can / should get your money back.0 -
Wedding insurance doesn't cover changing your mind.0

If you can't see anything in the contract you should email and ask where they think it is as you can't see it.My debt free diary
