in Cutting tax
Hey
Apologies of this is not the correct forum.
My Partner has recently sold some land in Poland and she now has an ammount of money in Zloty in Poland. converting this its above £100,000 but not massively so at current conversion rates. As far as she is aware she hasnt paid any tax in poland (the land was technically her parenty who sold it and giften the money.
Question is, if we were to bring this to the UK, would we be subjected to tax on this, and at what level? Ive had a quick google but there seems to be alot of conflicting ionformation.
Many Thanks

Simple answer - no, if it was a gift.0

providing the events are as you list in the following sequence Le Loup's answer is perfect...no. The fuller explanation being:
her parent sold the land, therefore the money from the sale was his so she has no tax exposure to that sale
her parent then gave her cash. There is no tax on gifts in the UK so that money can be brought into the UK without her having to pay tax0 -
Hey. Thanks for the answers.
How do we prove it was a gift? We're getting sent some paperwork early next week to make the transfer legitimate. Would that be sufficient?0 -
a letter signed by the parent simply saying he sold land he owned in his own name in Poland and gave the money to his daughter as a gifttransgression1 wrote: »Hey. Thanks for the answers.
