Replacement 'O' rings for a kitchen mixer set?

Hi.
What do folks do when they need to replace these little black rubber rings and there's no way to identify the mixer tap make? Just buy a lucky dip pack and hope for the best? I've tried replacing just one of the two needed but the replacement was too fat to allow the spout to be re fitted.

Take the old one to the shop with you.
Shop at one of the old fashioned hardware shops.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I've used an elastic band as an emergency replacement for a broken O ring.
It was on a shower drain so not under mains pressure. It worked so well that it is still there 18 months on. It is there to prevent smells rising up from the U bend and not to stop water leaks so there is no flood risk.
It might be more difficult to get an elastic band to seal a mixer tap, as that will be under pressure and also will presumably be subjected to friction as you move the mixer tap, but maybe worth a try.0 -
Thanks all. I've just seen that you can get bumper boxes of these things for a couple of quid on fleabay, s0 I think I'll take a flier on that.
