Which? Mortgage Advise service

Hi

I am looking to move home and thinking of using Which? Mortgage advisers. Read some reviews and it is mixed some saying it's brilliant and some are not happy with it. Have anyone used their services and would you recommend them? Thanks

have a look on review centre or trust pilot and come to your own conclusion, a few bad ones or good ones shouldn't sway your mind. It's everything on a whole.

Why not go for one that is recommended from your friends for e.g.
"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

The problem with any factory line remote service is that you are just one phone call in a queue of people and they cannot give you the time that many people need or desire. For simple cases, that shouldnt be an issue. If there are issues, then a local broker is usually better.

A local broker won't have the same volume of mortgages on the go at any one time and can dedicate more time. plus, you get the advantage of that broker being available out of hours and more easily (often via their office phone, mobile phone, email and possibly office)

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with Which or any other factory line service. It is just a different method of distribution which will be fine for some but limiting or inconvenient for others.

The only thing I personally have issue with is that they position themselves as a consumer champion on the one hand but they are also acting as a service provider and distribution channel on the other. That is a big conflict of interest.

Also, they are not particularly good value at £499 plus commission retained. Most local brokers tend to be around £0-£299 plus commission.
