Duvets

Just had a text from my lodger saying that my cat has "christened" his bed! I'm assuming weeing. He wants to know can he put the duvet in the washing machine? Can he? I haven't the foggiest and my mum is at work, so can't ask her.

    Hi Pollyanna

Yes, in all probablility you can. Ours is goose feather, and that can be machine washed. However you might find it too big for your machine to be able to wash it properly, so you'll probably need to go to the Launderette.

btw... If the cat doesn't usually do this sort of thing I would whip him/her off to the vet asap to be checked out. My cat did this and it turned out she had cystitis.

PS the duvet probably has a care label down one seam telling you what temp etc.
  • Yeah, you can wash it. If it's polyester, most household machines will fit up to a double bed size. Mine is kingsize, pure down, but I just took it to the launderette. If it had fitted in my machine I would have done it at home. I threw mine over the upstair banister and it dried overnight, but again if it's polyester and fits in the tumble drier, just chuck it in with a couple of clean tennis balls or clean trainers, to help fluff it up.

  • Depends what size/tog? You don't want to overload the machine and knacker it....

  • P.S, just mind, you will only need a very small amount of washing powder.
