I recently bought a nightie on the next online site as a Christmas present for my mum and was told that if I signed up for an account then I would get £10 off, I had just assumed it was the normal type of online account and didn't realise that it had anything to do with credit. I'm a first year student at university and have never had a credit card or paid for anything on credit before so I am very confused about what I need to do. I have paid back the £6 which I owed for the piece of clothing but now I don't know what happens. I almost never shop at Next so I would like to close the account and have emailed to ask if I can do this. I don't know what to do and whether I will be charged for the credit on the account. It has given me a £600 credit limit and says I have £594 remaining. Do I need to pay this amount in order to close my account? I have no experience whatsoever with credit so I'm at a loss. Can someone please explain to me what I should do?

You only need to pay back what you've spent plus any interest charged, catalogue fee etc.
So if it says you owe £6, you repay £6.
You can email them to close it, I done it a couple of months ago. Got a reply within a day confirming closure.0
