So happy.....

I have been working two jobs and VERY unsociable hours for two years while my son was at pre school. He started mainstream school in September and I told myself I would look for a term time only job but take my time looking as the new job had to be right anyway.....

I found a job last week which is, let's say, absolutely 100% ideal. It's the exact job I want, within biking distance of home, term time hours and a great ethos to the company. The closing date was 18th Jan so I worked really hard on my application and submitted it on Monday. On Tuesday morning I received a call from the manager asking me in for an interview next Wednesday afternoon, she was very keen on the phone and said they have two others to interview that day.

This job means everything to me and I'm desperate to get it, I've been researching the company and rival companies. I've been looking into their business model and what they are offering. I just wondered if anyone had any words of wisdom for me or any advice that may point me in the right direction for the interview.

Well done. :) You must be so pleased!

What type of role is it?

    Really pleased to hear that!

All I can say is that try to come across as the kind of person you would like to work with. Businesses aren't just looking for qualifications and experience, they want people that are pleasant to be around.

    Good luck :-)

No matter how much you want the job it's important that you DON'T come across as desperate. Keen is one thing, desperate another thing entirely and not in a positive way.

OP I know exactly how you feel. But congratulations on getting an interview-I agree that they are very interested in you.

I managed to attend an Assessment Day last September with a company I'd wanted to work for for a long, long time.

Unfortunately my nerves got the better of me and I didn't excel in the interview.

I noticed they were holding one again at the end of the month (the company states waiting 6 months before trying again) and asked if I could go ahead and submit an application.

Unfortunately I can't attend at the end of the month but the adviser has said they are looking forward to me attending again in the future.

So I've left it at that; show you are keen but keep your options open "just in case".

When you're desperate for something, you either turn very enthusiastic - positive- or an anxious mess -not good!

To avoid the latter, practice practice practice and then take a deep breath as you go in and remind yourself that you can only do your best. In the end, there are many reasons why someone is picked for a job and it isn't all down to you.
