    Edam.

Freezing Stilton isn't sacrilege, it's just common sense. I hope you were super-sensible and cut it into smaller wedges first? 2kg is one heck of a lot!

Inspired by you Ken68, I bought a 1lb half wheel at Co-op yesterday, RTC £1.15 from £3. More expensive than your find, but also a quantity I will be able up consume!

I have stilton in my freezer from 2 years ago when T were selling off half wheels for 20p. I love melted stilton on toast and crumbled into soups. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between fresh and defrosted.
Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

also, the cathedral vintage cheddar (aged approx. 20 months) is now £0.94 with a use by date of march 2016. not sure if this is store specific though. there were loads left over in my local Tesco express (northeast London).

Freeze it and use it in all your cabbage soups. My ability to cook is really limited but can use a slow cooker without harming myself. Stilton and Cabbage soup is yummy.
