That's a pity. They were offering free upgrade on cup sizes too:o

Oh I got one for 49p but manager's reductions means it's non returnable if it didn't fit. :p

No, as don't actually know when I'm coming home from the trip! However, will be flying home from JFK so likely to be a night flight, so will just be going straight home.

It does tend to tell you on the HE page, although you have to look hard sometimes to work it out. You will see that sometimes hotels on there have more than one rate, and it will say non-flexible under one price, so it means the other is flexible. Also be sure to pick one without breakfast, for some reason they don't like this.

Then just make sure the rate on the other website is the same, either non-flexible or flexible. I actually wasn't sure on the website I was comparing against, as it was so much cheaper than HE, so I did a live chat with them to confirm. The live chat box stayed on the screen so was then in my screenshots, so was all very helpful!

I think its better to look at flexible rates, although they are more expensive. When you book the flexible rate on HE, at the basket it gives you the option to add cancellation insurance at £2.49. I think the possibly charge an admin fee to cancel otherwise, so to be safe I added this on, just in case they came back for any reason and denied my claim, I would have then just cancelled the room and only lost £2.49. Non-flexible rates don't allow you to add this insurance from what I can see, so if they did then deny the claim you would be stuck with that hotel room.

Other than that, just make sure things like double bed or twin beds are same, and that check in and check out times are both the same on both websites.

Their T&C's have changed as well. It used to be free if... it's cheaper (have had a couple rooms/parking when it was a penny or two cheaper), then it changed to cheaper by 30p and now it is if cheaper by 50p.

So, today I have spent the day trying to clear some room in the freezer. I had a massive glut of rhubarb prepared and frozen which was taken up an awful lot of space. I have used 4kg up today making rhubarb and ginger chutney and plain rhubarb jam.
This evening, I sent DH to Ts to get me some more sugar and he came back with whoopsies - 3kg stewing beef and 1.5kg beef fillets all for less than a tenner. All now separated into portioned amounts and into the new space in the freezer :T The boy did good and with perfect timing :D
