I wondered if any of you could help? We've been looking at places to go on holiday. Have any of you ever been to Bluestone in Pembrokeshire? It would be a bit of a trek for us and I'd never heard of it before but it looks like the sort of place that'd be great for the children. Any thoughts would be greatly received :) x

    Hi,
Forgot to mention earlier Oakwood theme park is right next door to site

Hi Logie, I lived and worked in Pembrokeshire for many years....I have recently moved but I can help you..What do you want to know.:)

Further to this Logie..Bluestone is next to Oakwood Theme Park...Something Similar to Alton Towers but on a smaller scale..Think a family of 2Adults and 2children entry was about £47..You also have Folly Farm...Its a good attraction for kids..I know that in recent years they had Giraffes added to the farm..Its a good day out..That is only 10 minutes away..There is the County Town of Haverfordwest..Not really to much to do there although this is the main shopping town...North of Haverfordwest is The smallest city in the UK..St Davids..worth a visit even if it is just to see the Cathedral..This is taken along the A487 North from Havefordwest..You'll pass through a small village called Newgale..Lovely beach and a couple of Cafe's...South of the County is the Town of Tenby..Very popular with tourists in the summer and has two very good beaches..Lovely little town to mooch around..Nearby is Saundersfoot ..again a lovely beach...and further beaches run along the coast to Pendine..(Note this is where John Campbell and Bluebird achieved a few of his land speed records..Bluebird is sometimes housed there in the summer months..Pendine is a 7 mile stretch of beach...You also have Pembroke where you can visit the Castle..and a wonder around the town..Don't get excited..Its not a big place...There is also Heatherton World of activities...Various things to do there.. The Dinosaur Park..and Anna's Welsh Zoo..This is Anna Ryder Richardsons zoo..These three are all in close proximity of each other..There are plenty of water activities around the county to do....I don't think you would be disappointed..Pembrokeshire is a beautiful county as long as the weather is good..It has a three day County Show mid August to..This is well worth visiting if you are there mid August.. Narberth is not far away..Nice little town with a few interesting shops and antique places..All of this is pretty much within half hour drive from Bluestone.

I could go on but I'll leave it at that..If you want to know anything else..Just ask:):)
