Feeling a bit anxious today. DS is flying to New Zealand tonight for 10 days to be best man to his best friend. Unfortunately he has to leave wife behind as she is over 30 weeks pregnant. I know its silly but its not that he is going to other side of the world its that he is hiring a camper van and doing a 4 day trip around on his own while he is there!!

You and your son needn't get anxious about this. This the employer's error and the employer can be very grateful that your son isn't saying that the money isn't spent already and only offering to pay it back by drip feed. If the employer needs to wait, then he needs to wait.

thanks for this, the voice of reason - yes it is the employers mess and its really them we should be annoyed with.
His last pay was in July 2015 as he was on secondment and he gave in notice for the end of November so it makes no sense that they paid him in December.
it went into his account on December 23rd and they didn't realise until January 6th by which time he was out of the country again.
And then they sent him a reminder email yesterday asking why it had not been transferred back

and his old employers are fully aware he is 8 hours ahead of the Uk plus he often goes out on expeds for 5 or 7 days at a time so he is totally out of contact ...

yes I would be totally happy with dilemma number one - the flight to NZ - where is he changing planes?
also not too worried about dilemma number 2 the very pregnant wife - hopefully nothing exciting going to happen yet for months.

but dilemma number 3 the camper van worries me as well and travelling around on his own - what is wrong with the youth of today that they always have to be doing something dangerous :rotfl::rotfl:

see if you can find the email address of the CEO - the big chief and send him an email - send him details of all the times and dates and who you spoke to etc, as much detail as possible

Already tried that, absolutely no reply, but it was Hotpoint and they are a bunch of foreigners (no disrespect) and I had to guess at half the email addresses as they weren't on ceoemail. I am going to copy in directors of John Lewis tonight though. Needless to say I have heard nothing.
