Can't say why the form isn't working without knowing what's been inputted.

Haven't actually had to fill out the online version myself.

If your employer reimburses 13p would that be £395.20

So you'd be looking to reclaim £972.80?

    Or 3040 x (0.45-0.13) = £972.80

I assume you put the amount your claiming rather than the miles?

You can put those values in the form here.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/income-tax-tax-relief-for-expenses-of-employment-p87

Whatever detail I put there it still comes up with same message!

Just done a dummy run myself, not having any issues.

After preview I'm given the form to print off.

Is it displaying the message about £2500 within the form? I did not get any error message, just that statement after What to do now.

    Just tried it twice myself.
Using your figures, like Darksparkle, no problem.
Using mileage of 16000 I get the same instruction as you after What to do now but just above that a box shows the amount of the claim, £6000 in this instance so the message is correct for that.
How much does it show in that box on your computer?

Okay so on page headed Total Expenses it says:

Total net allowable expenses you are claiming for the year £972.80.

    What does yours say here?

At What to Do Now it says "do not send any paperwork with this form unless you are claiming fuel costs for a company car etc" it then goes on to detail about printing the form and provides the address to send it to. No mention of self assessment.

When I preview the form it says "only fill in this form if your allowable expenses are less than £2,500. If your claim is more than £2,500 you will need to fill in a self assessment"

So definitely not getting the same message as you.

You double checked you've not added an extra zero somewhere or trying to claim expenses you haven't mentioned?

The key part to me you would that total expenses section and what it says there you are trying to claim.

Have you checked page 5 of the generated PDF?

    It says there:

    What to do now
Your claim is more than £2,500 so you will need to fill in a Self Assessment tax return.
Please contact the Self Assessment Helpline on 0300 200 3310 or follow the link below

There is another "What do to do now" at the last page 6

    What to do now
Do not send any paperwork with this form unless you are claiming fuel costs in a company car (see
'Other expenses' section of this form). Before you send this form to us, we recommend that you print
an extra copy to keep for your records. We may need to write to you for more information to support
    your claim.

All I am claiming is only this:

    Total expenses
This section has worked out the total amount of expenses that you are claiming.
    *indicates required information
    Total net allowable expenses you
    are claiming for the year
    £ 913.76

    Confused :(

You can see how I filled it up.

I didn't keep the form, I had no need to. Can't be bothered filling it out again, sorry!

Just print it and send it.

It's probably just picking up the wrong page.
