On a final note, I watched Mhairi Black's speech. I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing her name correctly, but I better learn the correct version

Should be pronounce vari as the mh in gaelic is a v. However she apparently uses mari as in marry.

Mhari Black did say in her conclusion that the 1995 issue is done and there was little we could do about it other than learn from it in terms of better communication etc.

Maybe they should have written it in pink?

She said that the 2011 policy 'is' something that we can do something about. If that remains the ethos then its possible any changes sought will be restricted to 2011 and then tie in with your own position.

Having to wait an extra 18 months to get your pension at such short notice must be upsetting. The conservatives should have been tougher in 1995 when they set out the original transition period, they stretched it out too long. However as it means you will just have to work for another 18 months, then the majority of people aren't going to be too inconvenienced.

The "I just found out I can't retire at 60" women are not helping with any meaningful discussion.

    Ms Black doesn't understand equality:
"That's a strange definition of equality if whereby I am being shafted and short-changed purely for the fact of when I am born and the fact that I am a woman. That's not my definition of equality."

You're not being short changed because you're a woman, you're getting equality with men because of when you were born. Unless you pull women out of retirement, or invent a time machine then equality can only be introduced moving forward. It sounds more like "these women are treated better than men, so I should be treated better than men too or it's discrimination". It's sad to see sexism and an inflated sense of entitlement is still so prevalent in women.

Equality means men and women will be treated the same, it doesn't mean you get to keep all the benefits of being a woman but get all the benefits of being a man too. The "what is yours is mine and what is mine is mine" syndrome.
