Hi all
I am having a big new year clear out.
Going through clothes, toiletries, cosmetics etc.
Usually I package clothes up for charity or sell on ebay, but this year I looked into where I could donate some things to be of use.

Maybe if you are clearing out you might be interested

I am sure most of you have heard of Dress For Success- providing work wear for disadvantaged ladies trying to get jobs.
Here is the link

I hope my black blazers will be of use!

What I was not aware of until I looked was that women's refuges in the UK need toiletries and essentials to be donated.
They accept partially used make up except for mascara

A bit ashamed about stuff I might have thrown away in the past so I am making up a parcel.

What do you think?

    This isn't a countrywide 'thing'.

I think your thread could be retitled "Having a clear out in the Greater London area? Donate!"

Although Wales, Leeds, Bristol and Glasgow are mentioned...
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

There are plenty of charities who can make use of unwanted toiletries , no matter where you live

    Hi
You post them to them in a box
You do not need to be in London
  • I've took advantage of the the fact that everyone likes to start eating healthy in January and sent an email around work asking people for there unopened, unwanted sweets and treats they have left over from Christmas and will be passing them onto a local group that collect food and clothing for the homeless. In the process, workmates are asking what else is needed and I now have a boot full of warm clothing, tins and boxes of sweets and biscuits to drop off next week as well as promises of more to come once people have a sort out.

Our local community larder which is run by a church group always wants donations of shampoo, shower gel, cosmetics etc for a women's refuge- frequently they walk out of their homes with nothing. They also collect cleaning products.
It is always worth asking around locally what is needed.
Your local paper might be a source of info..... or might write a piece concerning unwanted items- that's where I first read about the community larder's list of 'wants.'
