Help me help my friend find accommodation in Manchester
My friend is looking for a room to rent (1 bedroom flat/studio/apartment) in Manchester, preferably as central as possible. Her budget is £500-£600pcm (is this too little? im not sure of the cost of living in manchester).
We've looked up online (gumtree, primelocation.com etc) but still couldn't find a suitable one. Any suggestion on good websites/letting agents/etc? It's quite urgent as she's looking to start her accounting course soon... So any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

That's quite a lot of budget - is she looking to live alone? When I owned a 2 bed house in Hulme (about 15 mins walk to centre) I rented it for £600 around 2 years ago. Try rightmove - they list thousands of properties. Also fish4homes through the Manchester Evening News website. She could also try having a look on university notice boards in the buildings around town. If she's a bit worried about money, she could look for accommodation a bit further out near tram or train stations. I live in Burnage/Levenshulme. Takes about 20 mins to drive into town, around 30 mins on a bus. However, I live 5mins walk from the train station and it takes between 6-10mins to get to piccadilly and only costs £1.40 return (sometimes only 70p). Fallowfield is a busy student area with good bus links and relatively cheap housing. HTH.0

Thanks crank_girl. She dislike travelling on trains/bus so that's why she's looking for a very central place. I'll pass on your reply to her... thanks for your help.0

have a look at the forums on https://www.manchesterstudenthomes.com - lots of people advertise there for postgrad/professional rooms. http://uk.easyroommate.com/ is also a goood place to start.
as far as agencies go, these are a few that people i know have looked at:

Thanks, melancholly. She finally managed to find a flat today. But the information in this thread should come in useful for other people looking to find accommodation in Manchester. Cheers!0
