Worried about Job Loss

Hi All,
Hoping to get a little advice on if I should be worried. I apologise if this isn't the right place to post this, I wasn't sure.
Basically I am currently completing an apprenticeship that has two and a half months left to go, I don't yet know if they will keep me on at the end of my contract although I have been told its likely.
I am worried that my levels of sickness absence will impact on if I am kept on or even dismissed altogether before I finish. I have had quite a few absence periods, a couple lasting a week or more and a couple just a few days. A bit of background, I am a cancer survivor and have long term effects of my treatment including a bone condition and a weakened immune system. I also have arthritis and a hip condition that I was born with (that I will be having a replacement for this year.) So some of the time off has been with my joint/hip pains and others has been with things I have caught like gastritis and currently a cold/flu with an infection.
My question is do you think it would be wise to start preparing for losing my job? They haven't mentioned anything but I am pretty sure they will when I return this time. What could I do to prepare? Maybe look at other jobs? Maybe I am worrying myself over nothing but I know there are absence policies in place and they have to stick to them.
Thank you in advance for any input.

Have you actually requested a formal meeting to find out if you'll be getting kept on or not?
And yes, of course look for other jobs. You want to cover yourself in case you don't get kept on by your current employer.0 -
They would need to be very careful taking into account absence to do with a disability, and cancer and the effects of cancer treatment definitely count as a disability. The other things you have are also likely to count as disabilities. This is presuming that you have told them about your disabilities.0

It will depend to a certain extent on the companies internal policies and procedures how they view things - how much sick leave is 'acceptable' and how much triggers warning. Even if sick leave is at a level to trigger a warning/action that doesn't necessarily mean something will happen. They should take into account your disabilities (Assuming you've told them of course).
Have you got a copy of the sickness policy/procedure?
Has there been any suggestion of any issues?
Have you complied with any rules in terms of notifying absences/getting doctors notes etc?
I hope it all works out o.k for you, you can't help it if you are genuinely ill. Let's hope 2016 is kinder to you.
