Early Discharge (or in my case, not)

Hi all
I realised today that I've hit five months since I went Br. I'm always amazed by how little its really had an impact on my life. That said, I'm in the lucky position where I don't really have a need for credit and I have no intention to buy a house anytime soon (I need to get a deposit together first!). Fingers crossed the dental work I'm having done in a few weeks isn't astronomically expensive.:p
Anyway, I find myself mulling over ED - though I'm not expecting it in my case - I have another review for an IPA in September, and sadly I've just got a pay rise of a measly £20 pcm which I think will (just) bump me over £100 surplus. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone who went BR in March has had the forms for ED. And also if anyone who lives in London has ever had ED. I have a feeling us London folk might have to serve the full term as the courts are so busy.

Hi NZ - There are NO standard forms for Early Discharge - I had absolutely no idea that I had been discharged until I received a letter from the Insolvency Service, enclosing a copy of the Early Discharge Notice, under 279(2) of the Insolvency Act 1988. Even more amazing, it had been issued nearly four weeks before I received it, meaning that I was discharged and did not even know it. It is also true that the Insolvency Service does NOT notify everyone in writing, so it's always a good idea to keep looking at the IS website.
I had not envisaged Early Discharge as my case had been referred to a Trustee, due to BI in house. Other than ONE letter I had heard, nor Have I heard so far, nothing from the Trustee.
I certainly HOPE that you get your ED.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Thanks Rog! In many ways, I prefer not to allow myself to hope. It's better than being disappointed!

Yes NZ - I also suspect that living in London or using the Royal Courts to go BR sadly has the effect of no early discharge. That said, I am not far off of my year now, so am happy to just ride out the time. It was only until recently that you were undischarged for three years, so I am quite grateful that it is now 'only' a yearDISCHARGED 12th December 2007:T

I was decalred bankrupt at the High Court London (Royal Courts of Justice, Strand) and thought that would affect my ED - apparently not.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Wow, that's interesting to know...
As you say backontheup, a year goes by pretty swiftly. At least it will if the last five months are anything to go by

3 months 2 weeks from IPOQ/EDREV until ED for me. Total time BR 7 months and 2 days. If that helps anyone (not in London though :undecided)
rog2, I might be remembering wrongly, but wasn't your case transferred to your local OR? It's the OR that starts and administers the ED process, and it only goes back to the court to be endorsed at the very end.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

That IS correct, fermi. I did have to telephone the IS in London, but it was, indeed, transferred to IS office in Bristol. Must admit I didn't think of that - it may have had a difference. Sorry if my post was misleading, NZ.
Strangely, though, the Discharge Notice was issued by the Bath County Court.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
