Dont know what to do....

Hi all.
Not been on here for ages but on a DMP for a year nearly and alls going well. Till xmas.
Its now the 6th Jan and I have £40 in my bank to last me till pay day. And still have over £300 dds to come out plus food shopping and petrol...etc.
I really don't know what to do.
I definitely don't want to take out a pay day loan as got into a bit of a mess with them a few years ago and my dad bailed me out. Cant ask him or any family to lend me money as they know we only got paid on xmas eve and will wonder where its gone. I don't even know where its gone!! Apart from pressies and overspending as were a family that love xmas.
Any advice on how to last till the end of the month. Even though were on a DMP ive never missed any payments of any kind ever.
Thanks.

Didn't want to read and run.
Is there anyway you can delay payment for any of your DDs without penalty?Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...it's learning to dance in the rain.0 -
Hi,
Is the DMP payment included in the £300 worth of DD's you have coming out ?
If it is, cancel the DD and use that money to live on, tell stepchange/payplan ? You will resume payments next month, don't prioritise unsecured debts above essential payments.
I think as you have never missed a payment, you are in the "must pay" mindset, you need to change your way of thinking, and put creditors at the bottom of the pile for payment.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I would get down to the bank/ CP and withdraw that £40 to live on pretty sharpish.
Cancel £300 DD if it was to DMP and live off the money.

I would speak to the dmp company and explain the situ, your not the 1st nor will u be the last, this £300 of dds does that include ur dmp payment.
Grab the £40 out of the bank
Foodwise - look at the cupboards / freezer / etc meal plan, usexx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
No advice to help you through this scenario. But for future reference move all your DD's to come out to day or two after payday.
We all love Christmas, but that attitude doesn't sound like someone who's had a LBM.0 -
Withdraw the £40 or you'll end up with diddly squat to live in until pay day.
Take an inventory of the food in your cupboards, fridge and freezer and get over to the Old Stule board for meal ideas. They can make a meal out of anything.
How did you pay for things in December? Card or cash? Do you have receipts or are transactions showing on a bank statement? Work out where your money went and then when you get paid start putting a bit aside for Christmas each month.0 -
Thanks for all your replies.
No the DMP payment has already come out. Comes out on the 2nd of each month. Direct debits include car payment, car insurance, phone bills.... Ill end up being £300 + overdrawn if they take them out.
Plus petrol, OH works a while away so we get through about £200 a month on petrol.0 -
I would suggest at least some of your direct debits can be cancelled without any effective penalty. You need to budget to repay them next month, though. Dealing with a letter saying you owe them x money is significantly better than not being able to eat.
Do you have any shops near where you live which buy bags of old clothes? Cash converters etc if you've stuff you don't use/need and can spare to make sure you can eat for the rest of the month.0 -
Is your DMP with Stepchange or Payplan? Ring them and explain and they may refund your DMP payment to get you through this month. Others have done this when an emergency has arisen, you may have to make a token payment for this month and then resume normal payments next month.
I hope you get things sorted out.
