Have you asked for training in your current job?

12 jobs is nothing. It's not easy to get a job and employers rarely bother to respond now unless you've got an interview. Plus, at entry level with them qualifications perhaps they feel you are overqualified and won't stick around. Apply for any IT job you believe you can do, don't just go for entry level.

You have work experience. Just because it's in a different field doesn't mean it doesn't apply. You have transferable skills. Prove that to employers.

There are truck driving jobs that are routine, though not 9 - 5, they tend to be more 6 or 7 -5.

If you have a flair and interest in technology then it makes sense to keep looking.

Have a look at the less popular areas where there is a bit less competition like QA, good test people are quite hard to find and that area can be a good grounding to other things in the right company.

Sometimes no IT experience is less of problem if you have industry experience(look at companies that supply to the building industry)

if there is a particular area of IT that interests you then that may be another option to target applications.

Does your cuurent place have any IT systems, can you get involved in them in any way?
