You don't say what type of care work you are in but have you tried looking at Mental Health (Learning disabilities / challenging behaviour) ?
Its not for everyone but there are normally vacancies in this field rather than in normal care work. Wages are not as great now it has been privatised but normally above normal care work.
    Good luck

have you enquired if the local hospital have any "bank" jobs available?
have you applied to other agencies?
any chance of getting 2-3 part time jobs, instead of zero hour jobs?
downsize where you live? rent a room?
    cleaning/ironing?
how do benefits work alongside zero hour contracts? could one ofyou claim?
    good luck for the future.

You need to find another agency and get more work, or take on a second job - both of you.

Regarding your wedding, I don't see how you will find £2k in 6 months especially now given that your credit history will be trashed so you can't take out loan/credit card/overdraft so the way I see it here you have 2 choices:

    1. Ask your guests to cancel their reservations, being that it is 6 months away they may get lucky and get all their money back
    2. Ask both sets of parents/family for a loan to pay off the balance

  • Mmm. Recruitment agencies do lie. While they assess you , they are full of spiel about how good they are etc . Trust no one .
All I can suggest here is, join as many agencies as possible .
Your other half should do secretarial/ reception work IMHO . In some places she could get more than £10 ph.
Similar story for yourself IMHO .
Also when you do join temping agencies, always phone religiously on Thursdays and Mondays. They will look out for you, plus they have to organise their diaries for the week.
    Good luck

Hi, i just wanted to suggest if your 20 hour contracts are day jobs could you get job hunting for evening/ night work to top up your hours and incomes. Perhaps bar work, fast food outlets, late opening retail/petrol stations or residential care night shifts? This could keep you going until you get more hours or a full time post in your chosen field. Good luck
