Hi all,
Just as a point of interest, the peanuts that are given to birds are uncooked. I.E. Raw.
Assuming that these are the same then they are ideal for planting. Kids will be absolutely fascinated by their growing cycle as they grow upwards and then turn round and bury themselves again where they send out another shoot and so on. (The new peanut grows under the earth, hence their other name - Groundnuts!)
I had a run of four pots (two in each) all joined to one another by this strange growing habit.
Place one peanut in a small plant pot full of ordinary compost, cover in clear plastic and put in the airing cupboard for a few days, by which time a shoot should be visible.
Keep in a warm place in the light and watch them do their thing.
regards,
